Under the Patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Yas Grand Kingfish Championship 2025 Kicks Off in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE – April 25, 2025: The Yas Grand Kingfish Championship 2025 officially kicked off today, Friday, April 25, under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohamed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club. The event will run until Sunday, April 27, featuring wide participation from professional and amateur anglers, both locally and internationally.
Organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the championship is the third round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship series launched earlier this year.
Over 1,750 anglers aboard 375 boats, including 351 men's boats and 24 women's boats, set off at 10:00 AM from key locations across Abu Dhabi, Al Mirfa, and Delma Island, heading towards designated fishing zones in the Arabian Gulf.
The launch ceremony at Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club was attended by senior officials and partners from ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Media Network, Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, the National Center of Meteorology, and other supporting entities.
H.E. Sheikh Mohamed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan expressed pride in the broad participation, representing 17 nationalities across 27 boats, underscoring Abu Dhabi's growing status as a global hub for marine sports.
“This championship continues to preserve our rich maritime heritage while strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for marine sports,” he said.
He also emphasized that the event supports the Year of Community 2025 initiative by promoting social cohesion and celebrating national identity.
H.E. Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, affirmed that the championship highlights the UAE’s commitment to safeguarding traditional marine sports and engaging younger generations in preserving cultural heritage.
The event is proudly supported by ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Maritime, Al Masaood Automobiles, Abu Dhabi Media Network, and several key partners.
