Abu Dhabi, UAE – July 31, 2025: Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, paid a field visit to the Nokhatha Abu Dhabi Summer Program, organized by the Academy of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The program is part of the club’s ongoing efforts to prepare a new generation of Emirati seafarers and equip them to preserve the nation's rich maritime heritage. It will run through the end of August, attracting wide participation from youth and children.
Accompanying His Highness during the visit were Majid Abdullah Al Muhairi, Vice Chairman of the Board, Mohammed Al Kaabi, Board Member, Nasser Al Dhaheri, Director of Racing, and Dr. Rashid Al Mutairi.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan was briefed on the details of the training program, which combines theoretical learning with practical, on-water experience under the supervision of a team of expert instructors. He praised the high level of organization and the strong engagement of participants, emphasizing the importance of continuing such initiatives that foster national identity and deepen the connection of younger generations with their maritime roots.
The summer maritime program targets a wide age range and includes specialized training on various types of sailing boats — from the traditional 22-foot dhows to modern vessels such as the Optimist and kayaks. The number of registered participants has exceeded 200, reflecting strong community interest in purposeful maritime initiatives.
His Highness affirmed that the program stands as a successful model of investing in national youth potential and channeling their energies into marine sports. It also contributes to strengthening national identity and passing down traditional knowledge and values to future generations.

The Nokhitha Abu Dhabi Summer Program is part of a series of pioneering initiatives organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club to preserve heritage and enhance youth engagement in both traditional and modern marine sports.
