“Team Abu Dhabi Leads the Largest Emirati Delegation at Mussanah Sailing Week, Targeting Gold and Top Honors”

Abu Dhabi, UAE – October 15, 2025: Team Abu Dhabi for Modern Sailing is taking part with the largest Emirati delegation in the Mussanah Sailing Week, held in the Sultanate of Oman from October 15 to 21, with the participation of more than 100 sailors from various countries around the region and the world. The event is recognized as one of the most prestigious sailing championships in the Middle East, organized by Oman Sail under the supervision of the Oman Sailing Federation.
Representing the UAE, Team Abu Dhabi fields 16 sailors competing in four main classes: Optimist Juniors, Optimist Youth, ILCA 4, and ILCA 6, under the supervision of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy and the technical leadership team comprising coaches Patrick Lotomsky, Ahmed Tarhan, and Najib Khan, along with team manager Khalifa Al Saadi.
The team includes a distinguished lineup of promising young sailors: Abdulrahman Al Bahri, Al Yaziya Al Hammadi, Zayed Al Hosani, Hamad Al Mehairi, Dhiab Al Mehairi, Rashid Al Neyadi, Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Marwa Al Hammadi, Abdullah Al Mehairi, Saif Al Zaabi, Abdullah Al Zubaidi, Mohammed Al Hammadi, Dhiab Al Hosani, Abdullah Al Neyadi, Toprak Kalijian, and Simon Haristov.
Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy, emphasized that the team’s participation in Mussanah Sailing Week comes as part of a strategic plan to develop a new generation of Emirati sailors and refine their skills through international competition.
“Our team is entering this championship with the ambition to compete for gold medals,” Al Suwaidi said. “Our sailors are physically and technically prepared to take on strong races that bring together some of the best sailing talents from around the world. Our goal is not just to participate, but to achieve results worthy of the name of the UAE.”
Al Suwaidi added that the academy places great emphasis on continuous development programs for young sailors throughout the year, ensuring consistent progress in skill, endurance, and competitive experience. He noted that this participation represents an important milestone for gaining exposure to global sailing techniques and enhancing performance standards.
In conclusion, Al Suwaidi extended his sincere thanks to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and President of the UAE Marine Sports Federation, for his constant support of marine sports and youth development programs, stressing that such backing is the cornerstone of the team’s continued success and excellence in both regional and international ar
