Al Dhafra” Crowned Champion of the Al Yasat Festival 60ft Traditional Dhow Race

Sunday, 13 December 2025: Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, crowned the winners of the Al Yasat Festival 60ft Traditional Dhow Race, held as part of the third edition of the Al Yasat Marine Festival. The race was organized by Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
The race featured the participation of 88 traditional dhows, each crewed by a full team of sailors. The competition started at 10:00 a.m. over a distance of 37 nautical miles, under favorable marine conditions with wind speeds ranging between 10 and 12 knots. The first dhow crossed the finish line at 1:00 p.m., while the last finisher arrived at 3:00 p.m.
The results saw “Al Dhafra” dhow No. 125 claim first place, owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan and captained by Marwan Abdullah Mohammed Al Marzouqi, earning the race title.
Second place went to “Al Shagi” dhow No. 96, owned by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and captained by Khalaf Batti Musbah Al Merri.
Third place was secured by “Hasheem” dhow No. 199, captained by Hassan Abdullah Mohammed Al Marzouqi.
The Organizing Committee confirmed that the race achieved significant success both organizationally and technically, reflecting a high level of competition and the authentic spirit of maritime heritage, while praising the cooperation of supporting entities and the efforts of captains and sailors in making this prominent heritage event a success.
